Who are we?
Waypoint is a travel brand of Joyce2Journey, Grolweg 1, 6964 BL Hall, the Netherlands, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 90289757. We are responsible for processing your personal data as described in this policy.
Questions about privacy? Email us at Waypoint-travel@outlook.com.
What data do we process?
When you use the contact form: your name, email address, the trip you're interested in and your message.
When you email us or send a WhatsApp: your name, contact details and the content of your message.
When you book a trip: the details needed to organise it, such as your name, date of birth, address, phone number, travel document details, dietary requirements and an emergency contact. We only process health information if you give it to us yourself, with your consent, and only as far as needed for your trip.
Why do we use your data?
To answer your question and send you a proposal.
To book and organise your trip and to stay in touch with you during it.
To meet legal obligations, such as tax record-keeping and the rules of the travel guarantee scheme.
We never use your data for other purposes and never sell it.
On what legal basis?
To answer your question and arrange your trip: the (preparation of the) contract with you. For record-keeping: a legal obligation. For special data such as health: your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who do we share your data with?
Only with parties needed to deliver your trip, such as accommodation, transport companies and guides in South Africa. South Africa is outside the European Union; we only share the data that is genuinely needed to carry out your trip.
We also use a few service providers who process data on our behalf: Cloudflare (website hosting), Web3Forms (forwarding contact form messages to our inbox), Microsoft Outlook (email) and WhatsApp (messages). They may not use your data for their own purposes.
If the legal travel guarantee applies to your booking, the necessary details are shared with STO Garant and Stichting Derdengelden Certo Escrow.
How long do we keep your data?
Questions and messages that don't lead to a booking are kept for up to 2 years. Booking records are kept for 7 years, as required by Dutch law. Travel document details and any health information are deleted no later than 3 months after your trip ends.
Cookies and visit data
Our website does not use tracking or advertising cookies and does not keep visitor statistics about you. The website's fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address. Our hosting provider Cloudflare processes technical data, such as your IP address, to keep the website secure and fast.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to object to its use, to restrict its use and to receive your data in a common format. Email Waypoint-travel@outlook.com and we'll respond within one month.
Not happy with how we handle your data? You can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
Security
We take appropriate measures to protect your data against loss and unauthorised access, such as secure connections (https) and protected accounts with strong passwords.
Changes
We may update this privacy policy. The latest version is always on this page.
